Natural North LLC is proud to be a member of the West Central Minnesota Landscape Advisory Committee, a group dedicated to guiding sustainable forest management across the region. This committee provides essential leadership and direction to the Minnesota Forest Resources Council’s (MFRC) Landscape Program, which operates under the Sustainable Forest Resources Act (Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 89A.06). Its efforts ensure the long-term health, diversity, and productivity of Minnesota’s forests—critical resources for wildlife, recreation, and the regional economy.

As a member of the committee, Natural North aligns its mission with the broader goals of the MFRC, which include preventing net forest land loss, promoting diverse forest cover types and age classes to enhance biodiversity, and fostering healthy habitats for forest-dependent species. Through collaboration with landowners, conservationists, businesses, and public stakeholders, the committee works to ensure that forest management reflects the needs and priorities of all who depend on these vital resources.

Natural North plays an active role in the committee’s efforts, contributing to regional priorities through meaningful activities such as recommending policies to the Legislature and Governor that support sustainable forest management. We work with the MFRC to advocate for regional goals, share information, and demonstrate how collaborative efforts strengthen forest management strategies.
As part of our commitment, we help define region-specific goals and establish metrics to monitor progress toward sustainability objectives. We participate in reviewing and refining landscape plans, ensuring they align with long-term ecological and economic goals. Additionally, the committee’s focus on cross-boundary management and the development of funding strategies resonates with our values, as it secures the program’s success and longevity.
